With this being my first scenic design, there was a lot of collaboration between me and the design team. With the demand of multiple scene changes for Alice @ Wonderland, we came up with the design to have a turntable with four different sides, creating the possibility to have four different backgrounds that can easily be transitioned with four people. After reading the script, I thought about what type of backgrounds the production could have that could work for numerous scenes. I landed on a "real forest" for the opening and closing scenes, a wonderland forest and wonderland bushes for numerous scenes throughout, and a wonderland courtroom scene that could still work for other indoor scenes if need be.

During the production process, we really got to play a lot with how to further incorporate different design techniques to create an engaging design for the audience. Getting to combine my fine art and scenic painting experience, having a consistent direction with bright colors and stark shapes against a more refined and earth-toned stage gave a very whimsical effect for the production.
The final result gave the whimsy that we were driving for, and also made the costumes of the characters stand out in their own way.
