Everyman Costume Design
Lindenwood University – 2021
In my costume design class, we were given the assignment to create costume designs for the play Everyman. With it being a medieval morality play with themes of the fate of the human soul, I thought it would be interesting for all the characters to have a reoccurring costume piece that unified them altogether, yet gave them a sense of depth as individually designed characters. I decided to give all the characters their own version of a "cape", as it gave all of them stoic silhouettes and gave the audience an idea of what each individual character represented.

I then experimented with color palettes per character, with the idea of each one having a monochromatic palette to further contrast them from one another. This resulted in a full-fledged design that communicated the purpose of each character in the story, with a strong sense of shape, motif, and color to round them out.
