Santa Fe Opera Electrics Apprentice
June 2022 – August 2022
Being an apprentice at Santa Fe Opera immersed me into the intensive environment of opera theatre. I learned more about making practicals, soldering, and power distribution, all on top of my apprentice team of eight working through our daily focus and changeover of 250+ lights on a rotating rep plot.
Having a five-show season, I showed my leadership through numerous opportunities such as being the Head Deck Electrician for our most lighting-involved show, M. Butterfly. This included checking around a dozen practicals, assigning changeover and changeout duties, and ensuring a smooth transition from one show to the other. I was also a spotlight operator for numerous shows, which taught me the importance of precision to give the audience a captivating experience.
